Makkah, Saudi Arabia - Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye have signed a landmark trilateral defense agreement in Makkah, marking a significant shift in regional security cooperation. The pact states that an armed attack against any one of the three countries will be considered an attack against all, committing them to strengthen collective defense and military coordination.

The agreement was signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a high-level summit. According to Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, the pact aims to enhance defense cooperation across all sectors while reinforcing regional peace, stability, and deterrence against external threats.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan already shared a bilateral defense understanding. With Türkiye now joining the framework, the alliance combines Saudi Arabia's financial strength, Pakistan's nuclear and missile capabilities, and Türkiye's advanced defense industry and military expertise.

The agreement comes amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and follows Saudi Arabia's recent announcement of a multinational maritime security coalition to protect key shipping routes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

Analysts believe the new partnership could significantly influence the regional balance of power. The three nations have also been increasing cooperation in diplomacy, defense technology, military training, and strategic planning, signaling the emergence of a stronger security bloc in the Muslim world.

While the three governments describe the pact as a defensive alliance aimed at preserving peace and stability, observers say its long-term impact could extend well beyond the Middle East, potentially reshaping regional alliances and global strategic calculations.
